Akiskinook
Akiskinook is a lakefront property located on the sunny east side of Lake Windermere, British Columbia, five kilometres south of Invermere. It is one of the valley’s finest developments with several acres of manicured green spaces, forest, and waterfront.
It features wonderful views of the lake and the Purcell Mountains. Its amenities include a tennis court and two pickle ball courts, a playground, a marina, storage for canoes and kayaks on the beach, and a private sandy beach for swimming in the summer and skating in the winter. The Recreation Centre provides hours of fun at the swimming pool, hot tub, squash court, fitness/games room, and a TV/computer room. There is a convenience store a short three-minute drive away.
Akiskinook comes from the First Nations word, Akiskinouk, which translates to “land of two lakes”. The two lakes it refers to are Lake Windermere and Columbia Lake, the headwaters of the Columbia River. Our children like to call Akiskinook our house on the lake.
